This winter wedding with a Mexican twist took place at
Middleton Lodge in February 2014. 'Jimily’ (Jim and Emily) celebrated their
wedding day with love, lots of laughs, a whole lot of partying and joyful tears
(mostly mine).
The bride and I poured over inspiration on websites such as
Pinterest and were drawn to coral and pink tones with tropical details. I used ornithogalum
and protea flowers to accentuate the luxurious tropical style we sought. The
tropical theme was a perfect fit for the lovely couple’s honeymoon destination
and the bride’s love of Mexican design.
I used a softer colour pallet for the bridesmaid’s bouquets
to offset their gorgeous coral dresses and to contrast with the bride’s vibrant
bouquet. The bride wore a beautiful
floral crown made with fresh flowers, which accented her lace dress to
perfection. Button holes and corsages
for the bride and groom’s mothers incorporated the tropical styling in hues of
white, vibrant pink and coral. Table flowers came in the form of vintage jars
and vases brimming with peonies, ranunculus and wax flowers.
I also collaborated with the bride to style the wedding of
their dreams; helping to design, source and make many of the wonderful details
that brought their wedding fiesta to Middleton Lodge.
